Limited water resource and heavy environmental pollution are becoming key restrictions for the development of the society and economy all over the world. However, most of the current water systems for water intake, utilization, and drainage still follows the "once-through" and "single-use" model. The water cycle system will be an effective and sustainable solution for the global water crisis, which marks the new era of water systems. Planning, design, construction, and operation of a water cycle system require not only technological background but also knowledge and experience across multiple domains and disciplines of natural and social sciences, engineering, economics, politics, law, culture, etc.

Based on the above background and consideration, the 1^st Global Symposium on Water Cycle (GlobalSWC) was launched successfully online in 2021 and provided a unique platform for discussion of the current advances relating to the development of a sustainable, multifaceted and multi-level water cycle system. In the 1^st GlobalSWC, professionals from academia and industries globally connected with the most influential minds in water communities, shared and exchanged ideas and information with water experts worldwide, and network with peer practitioners.

The 2^nd GlobalSWC will be held online on September 29^th, 2022, which will focus on the current situation on water cycle systems locally and globally. This event will address water resilience in the changing environment, water environment and its ecological system, water and energy resource recovery, as well as water supply and drainage systems.
